Description
SUSAN D. BLODGETT Sue served as the In School Restriction and Project PASS teacher at John Jay Senior High School for 23 years. In June of 2001 Sue was named Educator of the Year by the Dutchess County Youth Board. She currently serves on the Dutchess County Mental Health Board and the Architectural Review Board in the Town of East Fishkill and is the current Vice President of the Library Board. Sue and her husband Al have resided in Hopewell Junction since 1965.
MARY CROSS DUVIVIER They say Mary Belle practically grew up in the library – her mom was Nan Cross, longtime library director -- so it was a special event when she joined the board in 2000. She is a music teacher in the Wappingers schools, and is married to Marc Duvivier, a native of Belgium who moved here for their wedding in 1999. Mary Belle is recording secretary for the Board of Trustees.
CHRIS FERRERO Chris was a marketing executive for the DuPont Company in Wilmington, Delaware, for twenty years before moving here in 1996, when she formed a marketing consultancy specializing in strategic business planning. Currently she is Vice President of External Affairs for Pattern for Progress, the policy and planning not-for-profit serving the economic development needs of the nine-county Hudson Valley region. She has served as head of the board's Development Committee and Campaign Chair for the recent capital campaign that produced $550,000 toward the library's capital expansion and renovation projects, and now heads the library's Strategic Planning Committee. Chris lives with her husband Marty Sennett and son Brian in Covered Bridge Farm.
WALTER KEADY Walter Keady was born in the west of Ireland and grew up on a farm. He was employed for four years in the Irish Civil Service before going on to study for the Catholic priesthood. After ordination he served as a missionary in Brazil for three years. When he resigned from the priesthood he came to the United States and worked for IBM as a software engineer. Since his retirement from IBM he has been a writer and is the author of four published novels. He was a Board member, and Newsletter founder and editor, of the Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, 1987-2004. He has served on Dutchess County Legislature’s Citizens Advisory Committee on Domestic Violence from 1989 to the present. He founded and chaired the Spiritual Leaders Committee on Domestic Violence, 2003 - 2006. He sang with Hudson Valley Camerata Chorale, 1974-1998, and was president of the society in 1977-78.
ROCCO MARTINO A trustee since 2005 and current Treasurer of the Board of Trustees. Rocco is senior vice president for Guideposts, the publisher of inspirational books and magazines founded by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, which is headquartered in Carmel, NY. Involved in many community organizations over time, he is currently treasurer of the Wappingers Lacrosse Club, helping to promote this sport in Southern Dutchess. Rocco lives in Hopewell Junction with his wife, Maria, and their three children
PAT MOORE Currently President of the Board of Trustees, Pat Moore counts EFCL among many civic and professional organizations to which he contributes his considerable energies. His insurance agency, Antalek & Moore, has been selected as a “Best Practices Agency”, one of just six in New York State, by the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America. He and his wife Linda live in Hopewell Junction and are parents of three children.
SAM PATTON The Board’s longest serving trustee with more than twenty years of service, eight of them as president, Sam has also been an influential volunteer in statewide library organizations. He is currently the newsletter editor for NYSALB, the New York State Association of Library Boards. He is retired from IBM, and is a former Town of East Fishkill supervisor. Among other civic and professional roles, Sam was a member of the Wappingers School Board and serves on the board of the Empire Development Zone. Sam and his wife Stephanie, a Realtor, live in Taconic Estates. They have two grown children and two grandchildren.
JUDI SMITH Judi Smith has been a Trustee since 1995 and president of the Board from 2002 to 2008. She served as a Dutchess County Legislator from 1987 to 1995 and Chairman of the Legislature in 1993. She was then appointed director of operations for the NY State Division of Child Support Enforcement where she served as special assistant to Governor Pataki until her retirement in 2003. She lives with her husband, Russ, in an 18th century home on Route 52 that has been in her family for many generations, where she has rejuvenated many stunning old garden beds and continues to experiment with shade perennials.
BARBARA ZAWADZINSKY A trustee since 1987, Barbara has volunteered one day a week at the library, checking out books and helping patrons, since her retirement from teaching in 1991; she had taught at Gayhead Elementary for 25 years. Barbara's husband is Bernhard Zawadzinsky, known to longtime residents as a local butcher who ran Bernie's Deli and Meat Market in Stormville.
